While some plays are entertaining, others speak to people. Another Chance is all that and more.
It’s written and directed by Demetrius Truss, and set in New York City back in 2019. Another Chance keys in on issues that leave women everywhere with lifelong scars--infidelity, fatherless homes, abuse, rape, and seeking love in all the wrong places.
For women like Lisa, a successful business owner who seems to be after God’s heart but ends up in a relationship with a man who is not faithful, all while searching for the love of a father she never had, the pain and disappointment can be too much.
Women like Regina, who lost her mother at a young age and later finds out the man she was raised to believe was her father really isn’t. Regina ends up in an emotionally and physically abusive relationship where embarrassment and distrust could ruin her life.
Kelis, a mother of three whom may have contracted HIV. The shame and fear could wreak havoc on the lives of her life and that of her children.
The trials and tribulations of these women could lead to lifelong feelings of bitterness, but just as the name Another Chance suggests, Lisa, Regina and Kelis prove that there is HOPE!
I choose life over death.
